New England is moody. I started the drive down from Biddeford to the border of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and driving down I think I went through every season. There’s a immortality feeling you get by seeing how the world can change so quickly with or without you in it. I didn’t think of what I knew Anna as previously, from her social media page, or our previous meeting. I knew to bring a blank slate and empty myself of any notions of how I think I could take it, that would be the best to harvest new energy and allow that to set the foundation to start on. Being in someone else’s space, you understand a tiny bit more of their world, what influences their thoughts, you see what window they look out everyday. Anna can channel a certain creative frequency that I love tuning in with. It’s something like, she understands all aspects of the creative. I find it quiet appealing, ideas bounce around and find spots organically. I feel safe with her and trust her. I just got it. Our background in the arts are also somewhat paralleled. The set involves acknowledgment and an observer point of view. I forget who, but someone pointed out that if the subject looks at you, they are acknowledging you, and if they are looking to away- it is you who are observing. New England is creepy, considering it’s history and what spiritually goes on there, it’s a place where imagination runs wild though too. Maybe this represents a bit of the shadow that hangs over this part of the country. This again, was shot on Cinestill 800T , handheld with the Mamiya RB67 most likely 2-3 stops under hence the grain.
